Success Stories from BNU - School of Media and Mass Communication - Ahmad Iqbal:
When I applied in the Mass Communication Department at BNU and got admitted into BA (Hons.) program, I was certain that this is what I wanted to study but was unsure of which field of mass communication I wanted to pursue. I made friends, learnt from best teachers like, Dr. Mehdi Hassan, Ms. Ayela, Ms. Zebunnisa and Sir Rana Faizan who made a huge contribution in my personality transformation and intellectual growth. In the 4th semester, I met Sir Asif Zaidi; my mentor, my idol. He was the one who enabled me to explore the artist inside me. I learned photography & graphic designing from his courses.
I started my first job in Dunya News as a Social Media Executive during my 7th Semester. I learnt a lot during my time at Dunya News. After a year I got another job offer with 100% raise in a Denmark based Web-Development house named Penguin Informatics. Right after graduating from BNU, I, along with my three friends started a wedding Photography & Films company namely SHUTTER160. I was able to manage two jobs simultaneously, Film Head at Shutter160 and Graphic Designing manager at Penguin Informatics. By the grace of Allah, I was successful in both fields. After switching from Penguin Informatics I joined TeeWorks as an Art Director, where I met another guru of mine, Tahira Babar (CEO TeeWorks), who taught me how to excel in corporate sector with professional individuality. Via TeeWorks’ platform, I got to work with companies like Habitt, Coke, CCL, Universal Tobacco, Nestle, Telenor etc.
After stepping into the corporate industry, I and my chums, Hasaan Manzoor Khan and Zain established a corporate photography/videography company ‘Woodpecker360’. At Woodpecker360, we give 360 media solutions to our clients for enhancement of their businesses and we’ve worked UCP, CocaCola, Packages, Hum TV, P&G, Faiz Foundation, PSO, Indus Textiles, Sweet Affairs, PAPAAM, Uber, Travly, Joyland and many others. So folks, this was my journey so far, a lot of which I owe to BNU; the people that I met and the experiences that I had transformed me from a shy and dull boy into a confident & successful man.
