My name is Syed Talaal Burny and I graduated from School of Computer & IT (SCIT) with a degree in Software Engineering at BNU. Fast forward, now I've above 6 years of experience in the Tech Industry, areas of his expertise being Enterprise Development, Strategic Partnerships and Brand Management. I'm a former co-founder of Travly, a ride-hailing startup that helped shape the on-demand space of Pakistan along with tech giants such as Uber and Careem. One of the first and few startups to successfully closed a seed round of $200,000 from Pakistani investors.
Moving on, I joined Careem in 2016, and since then I have been a part of its ever upward journey in becoming MENA's first technology unicorn, followed by its $3.1 Billion acquisition by Uber in 2019. At Careem, I've contributed via my expertise in multiple departments including Operations, Marketing and Partnerships; and Corporate Development.
Momentarily, I am working with Careem Engineering as Developer Relations Manager. I am responsible for building, growing the developer community; and expanding our technology teams in Pakistan, Dubai and Berlin for multiple Careem products including Mobility, Pay and the SuperApp platform.
I'm also an alumnus of Plan9 Tech Incubator (3rd cycle) and PlanX Accelerator (Inaugural cohort). I'm also a Rajeev Circle Fellow and have formerly served as the Co-Lead at Facebook Developer Circles.
BNU gave me unforgettable student years. This journey couldn’t have been any better.
Thanks, BNU!
