Success Stories from BNU - School of Computer and IT - Mehmood Ali:
I am an entrepreneur, a technology enthusiast, particularly for Open Source Technologies. My contributions for the Mozilla community have engraved my name on the credit list of their website (https://www.mozilla.org/credits/) and is also listed on the Mozilla Firefox monument at their San Francisco office.
Currently, I am pursuing my Masters in Data Science and also working with Allianz Global Investors - which is one of the biggest investment firms in Europe. My work here is to use Machine learning and AI technologies to determine the fluctuation and anomalies in the market data which may affect our portfolio investments.
Previously, I co-founded a startup known as Travly, (Pakistan's first ride-hailing platform that focused on low-cost commuting options like auto-rickshaws and public transport). With Travly, we helped shape the on-demand space of Pakistan along with tech giants such as Careem and Uber. We were among a few of the startups to successfully close a seed round of $200,000 from local Pakistani investors.
Studying at BNU was an absolutely amazing experience for me. My professors at BNU have been extremely helpful and supportive throughout my time at the university and even beyond that. During my student life, I represented BNU at various national and international competitions. My first fully sponsored trip to Silicon Valley was through BNU, the beginning of my first technology venture was from this university. I can't explain the unconditional support we received from my teachers in building that venture.
